Reminiscence explores the use of old photographs as a stimulus in relation to the concept of memory. The window acts as both a frame and a canvas, providing my link to the present and once combined with the photographs of the past, printed onto acetate and layered, creates distorted imagery. It is also a barrier between us and our photographic subject. We cannot touch or change what is in front of us, we can merely make assumptions about the object or subject from various signifiers within the image. Memories are often fragmented and disjointed, giving us a sense of reality but not the complete picture, merely a glimpse into the past.
